The weather will be mostly cooperative this weekend for Easter activities. This year, my son is just old enough to enjoy romping and stomping through the grass while he looks for beautiful egg treasures. We plan to attend at least a few of the events listed below. Easter egg hunts can be found citywide, and many large activities are planned in the mountains.

Worship with nature
Red Rocks Amphitheatre is hosting the annual Sunrise Easter Service on Sunday at 6:00am. Doors open at 4:30am. Attended annually by over 10,000 people, this event is sponsored by the Colorado Council of Churches. Attendees are asked to bring non-perishable food items to contribute to COMPA Food Ministry at the gates. This is an outdoor service, so dress warmly. Admittance and parking are free.

Children’s Museum Bunny Trail EggVenture
Saturday, 10am – 5pm
Visit "eggsploration stations" at the Children’s Museum filled with egg-dyeing, special animal visitors from The Urban Farm at Stapleton, arts and crafts, stories, music, candy and the Easter Bunny, of course! Friends from the Rocky Mountain Great Dane Rescue will have some of their dogs on the plaza for everyone to meet.
Denver Zoo Easter Eggstravaganza
Sunday, April 12
9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Easter Sunday, Denver Zoo visitors can see animals enjoying brightly colored eggs placed throughout their habitats including mongoose, red river hogs, polar bears, arctic foxes, river otters, gorillas, mandrills and more.

Kids can hop on over to the Grand Staircase and visit the Easter Bunny for photos and a free gift. The Bunny also hosts a storytime weekdays at 11am.

Heritage Square Grand Opening and Easter Celebration

To celebrate both Easter and the seasonal opening of Fish and Farm Amusement Park, Heritage Square will offer all day family fun, including age-specific Easter egg hunts, candy hand-outs from every venue, meet-and-greets/photo ops with the Easter Bunny, and great fun on the newly opened rides.

Bring your baskets to two South Suburban recreation facilities on Saturday, April 11 for a basketful of fun. Both of these FREE events are for children up to 10 years of age.

Downtown Castle Rock and Festival Park hosts Easter Eggcitement, featuring children's activities and a trick-or-treat-style egg hunt with downtown merchants.

Flee to the mountains for egg hunting grounds
Largest Easter Egg Hunt in Colorado - Copper Mountain
This Sunday, Copper Mountain hosts the largest Easter egg hunt in the state, with the Easter bunny scattering 50,000 eggs throughout the village and the mountain. Adults can participate, too. Lucky winners could find giant "Copper Eggs" that can be redeemed for prizes. The event is free, with different times for each age group.
Golden Bunny Classic Candy Hunt and Fun Race - Winter Park
On Sunday, hit the bunny slopes at Winter Park with the Easter Bunny in this annual tradition for more than 30 years. Young skiers age 10 and under with a valid lift ticket can hit the slopes for an Easter candy hunt. Non-skiers under age 5 can also search for candy at the base of the mountain. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m., and the race starts at 11:45 a.m.

The River Run Events Plaza celebrates Easter with music, crafts, and an Easter egg hunt for kids ages 2 to 12. And "kids" ages 13 and up can join the adult Easter Raffle with adult-sized prizes. Take pictures with the Easter Bunny.
For a good cause
Denver Rescue Mission Hope Totes
This year, the Denver Rescue Mission is collecting donations of toiletries to hand out with their annual Easter dinner for the homeless. All toiletries such as shampoo, soap and razors are accepted, with the exception of mouthwash. Drop off donations at the Lawrence Street Shelter at 1130 Park Ave. West or the Ministry Outreach Center at 3501 E. 46th Ave. through April 12, 2009.
