The new Oshman Family Jewish Community Center (JCC) in Palo Alto Besides the fitness room and pools, there are at least 20 exercise classes offered at the new Oshman Family Jewish Community Center (JCC) in Palo Alto, explained Todd Milton, Fitness and Wellness Director.

Nor are you  left to your own devices in the fitness center, said Milton. "Besides an initial orientation with new members, where we become familiar with their short term and long term goals, and show them the appropriate machines and setup. We follow up with them in two or three weeks, and again later to see if there needs to be any modification.

Milton said there is a form that each person can use to keep track of their progress. There is personal training available in small or large groups, within the standard membership fee. And of course individualized training is available.

The fitness center has dozens of cardio machines and the full complement of weight machines.

But there is much more than just the fitness center. The JCC has two full-sized basketball courts, and two swimming pools; a six-lane, half Olympic sized pool for laps and an indoor walk-in pool with a water slide. Both pools are heated to 80 and 84 degrees respectively year-round.

There are other exercise rooms for a whole range of exercises. Some of these exercise classes are Total Body Conditioning, Core Conditioning, Zumba, BODYPUMP, Step Interval, Dance Fit Fusion, Dynamic Atheletic Intervals, Dynamic Strength and Strength, Yoga, Pilates, Indoor Cyucling, On the Ball, Cardio Kickboxing, Light and Easy, BOSU plus Kickboxing, Indoor Cycling, Cycle Express, Vinyasa (beginners and advanced), Aqua Fitness and Deep Water Training.

All the standard classes are included in the membership fee, but require advanced registration.

The JCC and Stanford Medical Library are partnering to provide informational courses on the JCC campus. http://http://www.examiner.com/examiner/x-26170-San-Jose-Wellness-Examiner~y2009m10d29-Stanford-Hospital-Health-Library-partners-with-Oshman-Family-JCC-to-dispense-health-information
