fall colors, Rocky Mountain National Park, Bear Lake
Golden Aspen at Bear Lake in Rocky Mountain National Park

Fall colors seem a thing of the past as snow flies in Denver this mid-October. Busy schedules thwarting opportunities to "go see the aspen" in the high country can be disappointing, especially when snow comes early knocking leaves off the trees.

For those of you who did not have a chance to get away, check out the slide show shot at Rocky Mountain National Park a few weeks ago. It's not too late to catch the tail end of fall's splendor and hear the elk bugling. It like a squeal in a bottle.

RMNP is beautiful regardless of season, but fall is extra spectacular thanks to the trees' need to show some colors before they ditch their leaves for winter.
