What used to be known to Edmontonians as Kingsway Garden Mall is now taking on a new slogan:
Let your light shine.” Over the weekend there was an impressive reopening extravaganza.

After a two year, $70 million makeover, this second largest enclosed mall now boasts interior light levels four times brighter than before. It’s like the mall got a fresh, new, bright makeover.

The grand opening included many exciting give-aways, a light show featuring 100,000 synchronized LED bulbs dancing to Christmas music and a fashion show featuring Canada’s Next Top Model’s first runner-up, Linsay Willier.

The runway show showcased some of the most opulent winter fashions, from big, bouffant hair to faux fur, a whole lot of bling and overall daring looks reminiscent of the `80s. The finale was spectacular, with local designers unveiling their evening wear creations that will be auctioned off in support of WIN House (Women’s Emergency Shelter). Place your bid when you visit the mall today.

You can also select a winner of Kingway’s Make Me Over contest. The finalist with the largest number of votes will walk away with a $3,500 mall shopping spree. Visit http://www.kingswaymall.com/makeover/ to place your vote. The winner will be announced on December 2, and their photo will appear in the Edmonton Journal.

Several new stores include Bath & Body Works, H & M, Artitzia and RW & CO. Brad Merchant, Director of Retail, Western Canada, Oxford Properties Group, explains how the revamped mall emulates a specific style sense of one of its new client groups.

“We definitely wanted to be more fashion forward because that’s what people told us through our research. There’s a whole new level of customers now who are looking for a broader blend of apparel,” he explains. “We call these new sophisticated shoppers urban fashionistas.”

That’s a name one could certainly get used to. Shop `til you drop at Kingsway today!
