Here we go again, another food recall. This time it is pistachios. A lot of pistachios: 1 million pounds of pistachios!
According to CBS: "Food safety officials are looking through Setton Farms' plant in rural Tulare County to see if it could lead them to the source of the contamination. The recalls began last Friday when the Georgia Nut Company recalled its Kraft Back to Nature Nantucket Blend trail mix after some samples tested positive for salmonella. Setton Farms has started a separate recall of roasted pistachios, and grocery operator Kroger also has recalled some pistachio products."
The FDA says this pistachio recall has nothing to do with the recent peanut butter recall. They know the pistachios were sent in 1,000- or 2,000-pound bags to about three dozen wholesalers, who then repackaged them and resold them. Some have been traced to processed foods such as cake mixes and ice cream. The FDA has stated the safest action would be for consumers to avoid eating pistachios until they can identify all affected products
