Daisy
Daisy, daisy give me your answer true. April's birth flower

If you have a birthday in the month of April, then your flower is the daisy. This is always nice to know if you are giving April birthday flowers or planting a memory garden representing your family and friends.

Botanical Name:
Bellis perennis (and more)

Common Name:
Daisy

Description:
The term daisy is used for many different flowers of the Compositae family.  People often think of the Shasta Daisy (he loves me, loves me not type) with thin long pedals around a button-like centers but there are hundreds of different daisies.

Colors:
With so many different Daisies, there are multiple colors available covering cool and warm colors as well as pastels. Daisies can also be dyed to complement bridal colors or match a party theme such as red, white and blue for 4th of July.

Availability:
With the many types of daisies (perennials and annuals) there are always one or another type available year round.

Growing Tips:
Daisies are among the easiest of plants to grow. They are commonly grown from seed and can be directly planted into a flowerbed. They prefer well drained soil and full sun but, are so hardy they can do well in other conditions.

Daisies need to be divided every few years to keep them from getting too dense and producing smaller blooms. Some gardeners swear by adding a high Phosphorous fertilizer right before blooming: saying it produces bigger and more vibrant flowers.

Fun and/or Interesting Facts:
It is appears the Daisy’s name came for the phrase "day's eye" representing how the flower opens when the sun comes up and then closes the sun is down.

The Royal Horticultural society has a nice detailed piece on daisies
