black bean sauce
Black bean sauce is wonderful on seafood, meat and
chicken!

I am a big black bean-garlic sauce fan! One of my favorite dishes is shrimp in black bean-garlic sauce but also like it used with chicken, meat and fish. It is a versatile sauce and a little goes a long way, so start with a little and only add more AFTER tasting!

Black Bean Garlic Sauce

¼ cup fermented black beans
4 cloves of garlic, minced
2 tablespoon soy sauce
2 teaspoon sugar
1 tablespoon plus 1 teaspoons cornstarch
2 teaspoon sesame oil
pinch or few of red pepper flakes (adjust to taste or leave out if entirely)

Rinse the beans in a small strainer under running water.

Mash the beans with the back of a spoon.

Mix all the ingredients together by hand.

Blend half the mixture until smooth (add a little oil) in a blender or food processor

Mix together the blended, and unblended, bean mixtures and use in your favorite recipe.

Our fresh produce recipes show it is as easy to eat well as it is to open a box!
