Irises from garden - Novemeber garden chored
Plant your bulbs now and enjoy them in the Spring   (KS-Y)

November has begun and as gardeners, it is also our last month to prepare our garden beds and plants for the upcoming winter. To make sure you will be ready in the Spring, tackle these 10 jobs this month:

  • Plant spring-blooming bulbs.

  • Transplant shrubs and perennials if needed.

        ·         Clean and weed garden beds

  • Cover cleaned beds  with a layer of organic fertilizer: chicken, steer manure etc

  • Mulch fertilized beds -  cover with fallen leaves or straw
  • Mulch around trees and shrubs to protect against freezing.

  • Tie limbs of upright evergreens and plants to prevent them from breaking in high winds and heavy snow.

  • Bring in and winter-over tender plants
  • Service and clean lawn mowers. Clean, sharpen and oil garden tools.
  • Roll and store garden hoses and sprinklers. Insulate exposed pipes s and exterior water faucets.
