Themed hotels are nothing new. Travelers have long enjoyed converted prison hotels and those submerged in water. But New York City will soon see its first neighborhood-inspired hotel.
Distrikt Hotel opens its doors in November and will feature floors based on famous New York City neighborhoods, from the Financial district to Harlem. Situated on 40th Street and 8th Avenue, the 32-story, 155-room hotel, designed by renowned firm otte Architecture, has modern suites that feature Frette linens, Ecru New York bath amenities, iHome docking stations and 37-inch flat-screen televisions. The 14-foot green "living" wall, which represents Central Park, is sure to entice guests. Room rates start at $275.
