Let’s put some facts on the table for Mr. Obama. Since Obama has been in office, he has blamed Bush or America for every fault in the world. He has accused this great country of being dismissive and arrogant. It would behoove him to look in a mirror when he’s not in front of a camera and examine his conscience if he has one. After Tuesday’s stinging elections in New Jersey and Virginia, Obama traveled Wisconsin to give a speech to a fawning liberal audience. He proceeded to once again blame President Bush because he inherited the worst economy since the Great Depression.
The economy Obama inherited had an unemployment rate of 7.5%. Inflation was under 5%. Interest rates were between 5% and 7% as well. The economy Ronald Reagan inherited from Jimmy Carter had unemployment at just under 8%. Inflation was 20%. Interest rates had hit 20%. Bush has Carter beat on all counts. The Carter economy was far worse than what Obama ever took over.
Yet Reagan never complained. He just went to work. That was the greatness of Reagan. When Reagan left office, unemployment dropped to 5.3% and interest rates were 10.5%. George W. Bush also inherited a recession from Bill Clinton and eight months later, 9/11 struck. Bush never complained of the recession he inherited or the worst attack on this country. He justifiably could have blamed Clinton for his neglect in handling worldwide terrorism. Bush went to work.
Something Obama has a definite aversion to: Going to work. The liberal, doting press wants Obama to be the next FDR. Obama could start by using Roosevelt’s example. Roosevelt never blamed his successor, Herbert Hoover, and FDR inherited the depression. He told the country, “The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.”
We Americans today aren’t as fortunate as our parents and grandparents who lived during FDR’s tenure. What we have to fear is an indolent, narcissistic president.
