Child star, actress, and Disney teen pop music singer Miley Cyrus has been one of the biggest teen idols in the world since 2006. Despite her young age, she has sold more than 7 million albums.

The ambitious money maker and daughter of country music singer Billy Ray Cyrus has started her own fashion line, made numerous television series specials, and has no fear of live stage performances. In 2009, the celeb brought Disney a block buster motion picture hit thanks to her (then) two million Twitter followers and fans; $154 million came in at the worldwide box-office for "Hannah Montana: The Movie".

However, not that we're at the years end, children, tweens, and teens are starting to change their mind about how closely to follow Miley Cyrus as a role model. Why? Since she decided to participate in a series of wild PR stunts, including deleting her account on Twitter, and came out speaking against blogs and reporters who helped fuel her rise to stardom, some children and families are starting to realize that some of Cyrus star qualities may simply be an illusion created by Disney Channel PR mixed with an abundance of wealth and glitter.

In a recent pole of children age 9 -15, the kids who brought such fame and fortune to the young Southern girl turned Hollywood, they voted Cyrus "Worst Celebrity Influence" of the year.

Here's the story, thanks to Reuters reports (Oct. 28, 2009):

Miley Cyrus, one of Disney's hottest stars of the past three years with hit records and hit films, has been voted the worst celebrity influence of 2009 by the very people who made her a star, tweens and teens, according to an online poll on Wednesday.

Cyrus, 16, took 42 percent of votes in the poll for AOL's JSYK.com (Just So You Know) website aimed at 9-15 year-olds, pushing Britney Spears and rapper Kanye West into second and third places, respectively, in a section on worst celebrity influences of the year.

No reasons were given for the poor showing of the singer-actress and the popular star of Disney Channel's "Hannah Montana" television series.

But the ranking follows a year which has seen Cyrus controversially dating a 20 year-old model, making "slant eyes" in an informal snapshot criticized as mocking Asians, and being accused of pole-dancing on a teen awards show.

Who do kids think has been a better role model? Singer Taylor Swift -- who many older adults may know as the cute youthful blonde singer playing the guitar on "Dances with the Stars", dazzled by the dance performers.
