Michael Jackson's children were in a hit and run car accident, attacked by paparazzi. (2009)
Paparazzi have again caused another Princess Diana style car accident. This time, however, it appears to be a car crash caused with paps chasing the Nanny while she was driving the children of Michael Jackson (Paris, Prince Michael, and Blanket).
While Katherine and Joe Jackson report the children are fine, the event is unsettling news to parents of all celebrities. However, the news also pulls at the heartstrings of any mom and dad thinking of being chases through life and having their children put at risk traveling to and from daily and routine activities.
TMZ has been reporting the timeline of news reports. Here's what is known from them at this hour:
Jackson Kids Involved in Car Accident

- UPDATE 6:00 PM PT: Sources close to the Jackson family tell us Grace Rwaramba -- the kids' nanny -- was driving the car with the kids inside. We're told the Jackson caravan was on the way to karate class, but the paparazzi gave chase ... and that's when one papper allegedly smashed into the back of the Jackson Escalade that wasn't carrying the kids.
- UPDATE 5:45 PM PT: Law enforcement sources tell TMZ the car that was hit was a Jackson security car, which was following the car carrying the Jackson kids. The kids were NOT in the car that was struck by the paparazzo. [Police]
- UPDATE 5:30 PM PT: Witnesses tell TMZ the driver who struck the Jackson car fled the scene after impact. In California, leaving the scene of an accident without exchanging information is a crime. The D.A. could file a felony hit-and-run charge if the evidence is there.
- BREAKING NEWS 5:00 PM PT TMZ has learned Michael Jackson's kids were involved in a car accident moments ago in Sherman Oaks.
It is important to note that TMZ denies any responsibility for the accident, and simply is sharing news about the hit and run accident with the world. [We believe them on this one, 100%.]
Now, with the midnight hour approaching the story for ABC news is as follows:
- TMZ later quoted law enforcement sources saying a paparazzo struck the back of a Jackson security vehicle, not the car containing the Jackson kids, before fleeing the scene.
- Joe Jackson, the late pop star's father, told TMZ that he spoke with Katherine Jackson -- Michael Jackson's mother -- and that the kids are fine.
