  Family fun and fresh food too at the King
   County Harvest Celebration Farm Tour

 This Saturday (September 26) is King County’s 11th annual Harvest Celebration Farm Tour. This is such a wonderful family event, I can recommend it enough!

Over two dozen farms open their barns, their pastures and farms for you and your kiddos to see where and how your food is produced. And it is all done in a fun family-friendly way.

Each of the farms will offer different things (depending on the type of farm and their size) many of them have hay and/or wagon rides, petting areas, places to pick your own fruits and vegetables, fun activities, craft stations and demos.

The tours of the Farms are very educational and great fun to learn how the farm works from collecting eggs to beekeeping to sheering sheep (and then weaving the wool), to milking the cows to grape crushing. Your kids may even get a chance to try their hand at cider pressings and butter churning.

Older kids will also have a great time too, going through the corn mazes, listening to the music and even trying some of the activities like the scavenger hunts. And Mom and Dad will be able to not only pick their own fresh products but learn some new ways to cook them at the cooking demonstrations.
