    Will you watch the Michael Jackson memorial?

The Michael Jackson memorial is today. It will be covered live (10 am PDT) on the major networks (including CNN, CNN international and CHH Espanola) as well as MTV and V1 and 2. In other words, it will be hard to miss it. Should parents sit down and watch this with their kids?

While he may have gone from famous to infamous in many eyes, most parents grew up with his music. We are well aware of Jackson’s signature vocal style, his dance moves and his fashion sense and that it influenced pop culture worldwide. We understand that his impact on American pop music cannot be overstated.

Teens know all about music videos and MTV, but adults understand it was Jackson who helped to launch the music video genre with his Thriller video: featuring that unforgettable chorus line of the zombies. 

The memorial is stated to be a celebration of Jackson’s life and Music. There won’t be a lot of dwelling into his legal battles or struggles but instead will offer an upbeat, tone. Like him or not, it is simply impossible to fully calculate the impact that Jackson had on the world of music .

There is no way that kids, tweens and up, have missed Michael Jackson’s death. Some of them may wish to see the memorial, to view how he is remembered, others may not and yet others may enjoy watching a video where they can see Jackson in his element. And then of course their parents can attempt to teach them to moon walk!

A memorial is a time to remember and today Michael Jackson fans can remember the music they owned while growing up: and the man who gave it to them.  If you plan on watching it, here is the list of who is participating in the memorial service:
