The World Health Organization has raised the Swine Flu pandemic warning level from phase 5 to 6. As cases continue to climb around the globe (most notably in Australia), WHO said they had no choice but to rise to the highest alert level .
The decision was reached after holding an emergency meeting on swine flu with its experts. This is the first global flu pandemic in 41 years . The virus is expected to come back stronger in the next flu season.
In their statement, WHO urged nations not to close borders or to restrict any travel or trade at this time. "At this early stage, the pandemic can be characterized globally as being moderate in severity," Adding, "(We) remain in close dialogue with influenza vaccine manufacturers."
