Bert and Ernie - jim Henson Seattle
Bert and Ernie (and Rubber Duckie) 2 of the loveable
characters created by Jim Henson - see his traveling
exhibit at Seattle's EMP/SFM 5/23 - 8/16 2009

Even if when people don’t know the name Jim Henson nearly everyone not only know the names of the beloved characters he created but has a favorite one as well. Personally, my favorite is Oscar the Grouch but, my kids were split between Big Bird, the Cookie Monster, the Count, Kermit and the Bert/Ernie duo.

Every family has fond memories of those wonderful Jim Henson characters. I remember when we went to see Sesame Street Live and my daughter bolted out of her seat and ran right up to Cookie Monster on his way to the stage! It never occurred to her that he wouldn’t be happy to hug her too – fortunately, he did stop and hug her long enough for Dad to snap the shot and Mom to reach her before security! And I believe The Monster at the End of This Book will always have a place in my heart as each of my children requested to have that read over and over and over!

And now we can all enjoy them close up at the Jim Henson's Fantastic World which is coming to our very own EMP/SFM (Experience Music Project / Science Fiction Museum and Hall of Fame) May 23rd! This exhibit will be on display in the first level of the museum’s science fiction galleries from noon May 23 - August 16, 2009.

For hours and prices (it is included with the general admission) visit the ticket information section of the EMPSFM website.  The museums are both very interesting and something the whole family will enjoy. If you have never been before, this would be a wonderful time to head on over!
