Ok, as a Mom I always put my kids needs first. If there was only money for one coat or one burger, of course it would go to my child. If they really want something, I stand behind them and do whatever is necessary (pay for lessons, taxi them, help and encourage) to let them achieve their goals. But help them have sex? I don’t think so!
Lucy Baxter has a 21 year old son, Otto, who is a virgin and who happens to have Down syndrome. While many of us would be thrilled to have our sons reach age 21 without having sex, Baxter is determined her son will have sex, and the sooner the better!
Baxter states she has talked to her son “as an adult” which must be different than the talk I would have given as Otto states, “I’m on a mission to find a girlfriend. My reason is I want to have sex.” It would be my hope to have my son to be looking for a companion, a relationship not just sex. The fact that her son has Downs shouldn’t make it any different.
Baxter says she is willing to travel from the UK (where they live) to take Otto to a brothel in Amsterdam if necessary. Not sure if I consider that a Mother’s devotion or ???
