Nayda Suleman
Nayda Suleman - a very good Mother???

Nayda Suleman is a lot of things but, a “very good Mother?” That may be a stretch. I have always believed that a “very good Mother” is one that puts the welfare of her children first and leads by example. While plenty of parents have needed support from their families (now and then) I have never known any that would take and take until their parents lost their home and were forced to file bankruptcy! Yet, not only did Nayda Suleman do that, she continues to do so.

Nayda’s Mother, Angela Suleman said in a CBS "Morning Show" interview that they were unaware Nayda had another IVF pregnancy until she began to show! She stated that Nayda hid it because she was aware her parents were against her adding to the six kids she already had. And yet, Nayda went ahead with another IVF procedure knowing that it would cause her parents even more of a burden. Maybe, if the burden had fallen on Nayda, instead of her parents, she might have acted more responsibility.

Angela also spoke about her initial anger and frustration toward her daughter when she found out. I am assuming that continued while Nayda was at the hospitals for months (on the taxpayer’s dime) and Angela was left home caring for the six older children. I suspect it may come back as Nayda continues giving interviews and getting manicures (caught on Video twice) – childless - leading one to think Grandma must once again be carrying for the kids!

Angela referred to her daughter as, “obsessive compulsive" but not mentally ill. She did add (perhaps as an afterthought) that her daughter was a “very good Mother.” But she stated that lawmakers should pass a law to prevent excessive in-vitro procedures in the future.

The “overwhelmed” Grandma has repeatedly stated the whole ordeal has left her (and her husband) “exhausted physically, emotionally and financially”. But, after seeing the octuplets she apparently got past it all and wants only to help these new babies just like she has with the other six. One wonders, how she can do any more. She already appears to be the primary caregiver and support for these kids – she admitted all of their retirement checks go to the family every month and that her retired husband will have to go back to work to bring in more money. Apparently, both Nayda and Angela appear to find it all acceptable behavior. Something I am sure no “very good mother” would!
