Stars from more than 40 countries will walk the red carpet at the Chicago International Film Festival.  The festival attracts a high caliber of film-makers and shines light on local talent; many of the films that debut here will be seen again at the Cannes Film Festival.

Screenings, discussion panels, awards, and red carpet nights will occur at several downtown theaters.  The festival is organized by Cinema/Chicago, with aesthetic leadership from silent film star Theda Bara since festival inception 45 years ago.

Besides the international aspect, the special documentary category has grown into DocuFest, and the TV Fest culminates with the annual Hugo Awards.
Black Perspectives highlights the acheivements of black film makers.  It is especially pertinent in Chicago, home of the first hip-hop film and center of the black movie industry for most of this century.

Rubbing elbows with celebrities is as easy as buying a movie ticket.  The price of a screening includes special deals throughout the city and exclusive admission to the festival bars and Hotspots.
