Sweetheart dances are happening Friday and Saturday, with each location hosting adult couples, teen, or daddy/daughter, mommy/son dancing. It's worth arriving early to explore the historic buildings. Many of the parks house murals from the New Deal/WPA projects in the 1930s, embedded art, and unique field house architecture.
Garfield Park Conservatory: free, $2 for Sweet Saturdays
Why buy your Valentine flowers when you can visit the garden for free? The spring flower show is in full swing the Sweet Saturdays program is running every Saturday in February. Sample sweets, enjoy a craft project, and other related activities. One of the world's largest botanical gardens, exploring this museum of plants and art exhibits is an all day activity.
Blue Line Club Car: no cover, drink specials
Cupid's Funeral is the day's theme at this bar and grill. Drink and meal specials run all day to celebrate the sentiment of the anti-Valentine. The hipster cool atmosphere and a fantastic martini selection will make for a chic evening out.
Cupid's Crawl: no cover, drink specials
Hop around to four Wrigleyville bars and enjoy deals on drinks and grub. This event is for couples or lovelorn singles, and is a fun way to meet new people. There is no ticket fee, but you must RSVP to be included on the crawl list. These bars are high energy so find a dark corner away for your honey-snuggling moments.
