Perhaps it is due to Universal Orlando’s desire to seem a little more edgy than its bigger estranged neighbor Disney, but Cigarz at CityWalk is most certainly not your average theme park bar. Whether it’s the old timey cigar store Indian at the door, the heavy cloud of aromatic cigar smoke or the decidedly local bar feel of the clientele, Cigarz is an enigma.
Long the hangout for the after work crowd, Cigarz boasts some of the best drink specials to be found anywhere in the Universal universe. Specialty glasses, plastic yards on lanyards and frou frou drinks with obnoxious names are not to be found in this wood grained saloon.
An extensive cigar selection dominates the walk in humidor, numerous beer varieties unavailable in the parks await a thirsty mouth and a staff both friendly and firm is ready to serve. A glance into the rafters may send fears of an imminent bat attack, but relax, the swaying brown are merely aged bundles of tobacco leaves.
Whether the mood for a fine cigar strikes, the mouth waters for a fine scotch or the need for a respite from the world of Crocs, sunburns and lengthy lines is the reason, Cigarz is always a welcome haven from the tourist crammed craziness.
Hidden at the top of the escalators overlooking the cinema, Cigarz is the place to grab that last call drink. Just remember IDs are always required.
