ADM skateboards spans the coasts and the spectrum of skateboarding and philanthropy. The company, based out of Boston, Massachusetts and San Diego, California, was devised as a dual effort to promote the artistry of some of the boarders themselves and youth community in general, across the nation. Their decks feature the work of young artists and they recognize skateboarding is a medium for these young artists to excel. Clearly, they have accomplished this, ie: the designs (and more), such as Papermonster's piece to the right.
There is an additional element here that sets ADM apart and motivates me to give back and to grind the curb.
"5% of all revenues from sales will go to drug awareness programs, skateboard park developments, and other positive non profits across the nation.," boasts The ADM Website.
Because philanthropy is a vital piece of ADM, there is an alternate website which describes this concept within the business: 5 Percent Fund. We are the artists, we are the skateboarders and we are the friends, family and neighbors who now need, can and will come together, and as ADM has.
One of the founders of ADM is from a an old western suburb of Denver, Wheat Ridge and some of our residents may remember his name, Ben Myers. Denver, with its central location and newfound but long earned fame, is the perfect intermediary, and has the perfect vibe to help continue this amazing project. Or at least take ADM's example in our own work and lives.
