Elisabeth Hasselbeck a co-host of the talk show, The View, wrote her own book about being gluten free last year called, The G-Free Diet: A Gluten-Free Survival Guide. Hasselbeck's book has done well, appearing on many best-seller lists.
Hasselbeck came to the realization that something she was eating was causing her intestinal issues after being on CBS's Survivor: The Australian Outback in 2001. She claims that while on the show for 39 days her symptoms disappered and she felt great, eating only rice and a few other natural foods they could scavage. Hasselbeck goes on in her own book to explain her journey from there and finding out that she indeed had Celiac disease.
Recently, this past summer, Hasselbeck was accused of taking excerpts from another woman's book (Susan Hassett), about Celiac and using them for her own gluten free book. Hassett filed a plagarism lawsuit against Hasselbeck. E!Online reported this week that the lawsuit has now been dismissed by a U.S. District Court Judge. Elisabeth Hasselbeck has denied these allegations and even made statements concerning the situation while hosting on the The View.
