In a show of support for members of the U.S. military and their loved ones, 16 bridal shops - including one in Southern California - will give away free gowns on Veteran's Day to a limited number military brides-to-be.

As part of the Brides Across America event, 16 stores in 14 states will prepare a select number of gown to give away. To qualify, brides or their fiances must be active-duty personnel who are or will be deployed to Iraq or Afghanistan. Recipients will have to show military identification and copies of deployment papers.

Most other gowns are samples and overstocks and are worth from $500 to $3000. Dresses range in sizes from 4-22 and will be given away on a first-come, first serve basis.

Two California stores will participate in the giveaway: The Bustle, located in Del Mar, just north of San Diego; and The Bella Bride, in San Francisco. More information, including a full list of participating shops is available at the Brides Across America website.
