Paul McCartney is offering a free MP3 download from his upcoming live set, Good Evening New York City. The CD/DVD package is due to be released Nov. 17 in America through Hear Music/Concord Music Group, and is available for pre-order now.
Beginning today on PaulMcCartney.com, fans can download a live MP3 of the track "Let Me Roll It" and watch "Highway" from the DVD (watch below). "Let Me Roll It" was originally released on the Paul McCartney & Wings album Band on the Run, and "Highway" is from Electric Arguments, from his second Fireman album.
Live versions of "Flaming Pie," the title track from McCartney's solo album of the same name, and "Sing the Changes," another Fireman recording, have also been posted to Paul McCartney's MySpace page.
The muli-disc set will include his performances of Beatles, Wings and solo classics during his three-night stand at Citi Field in Flushing, NY, July 17, 18 and 21. Citi Field stands on the site of the former Shea Stadium, the historic home of the Beatles historic concert in 1965.
“It was three great nights for the band, and for me personally," McCartney said in a statement. "It was very exciting to be back opening a new stadium on the site of the old Shea Stadium where we had played 44 years previously. Even more exciting because this time round you could hear us!”
The release will be available in two formats: a 3-disc (2 CD, 1 DVD) standard edition and a 4-disc (2 CD, 2 DVD) deluxe version featuring expanded packaging and a bonus DVD including McCartney's July 15 performance on the Ed Sullivan Theater marquee, including bonus songs not aired on the Late Show with David Letterman broadcast. The set will also be made available in high quality vinyl.
