What did Rachael Ray say when she found out Hall & Oates weren't in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame? "Say it isn't so..." Followed by, "I can't go for that, no can do!"
So she did what she does well - she cooked up a solution.
The legendary R&B duo appeared on a taping of Ray's Emmy-winning daytime talk show recently (air date: November 8), and upon learning that the biggest-selling pop duo of all time have not been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, she swore to do something about it.
In a call to action posted on her blog, she urged fans to leave comments advocating the induction of Hall & Oates into the Hall. In fewer than 48 hours, her makeshift petition had amassed nearly 400 testimonials, plus groundswells of support on Twitter (#hallandoatespetition) and Facebook.
"Did you know Hall and Oates, one of the biggest pop rock duos in history, has not yet been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame? That’s why I want you to leave me a comment here and this will act as our petition to get these guys into the Hall of Fame," she said in the blog. "We’ll gather all of your kind words, and send this off to show just how much we support these guys."
The duo were appearing on the show to promote the release of their Do What You Want, Be What You Are: The Music of Daryl Hall and John Oates box set, which was released last week on RCA/Legacy and debuted at No. 89 on the Billboard 200.
Hall & Oates will also be appearing on A&E's Private Sessions this Sunday morning, October 25.
