Know has been held for almost a year by Italian authorities while the case was being investigated. The judge's decision today that Knox will stand trial, comes as no surprise to anyone who's has been following this case. But unlike most "developments" in this situation over the last 8-9 months, this decision finally means the beginning of the end for this saga. I doubt it will be a quick case, but now Knox's lawyers can attempt to prove what they have claimed all along: Knox's innocence.
Judging by the posts I have received on this topic and the attention the Italian tabloids have been paying to this case, I'm guessing that Knox's character doesn't stand much of a chance in the courtroom. There's little physical evidence available, but this isn't the American justice system. The same rules don't apply.
Rudy Hermann Guede, one of the three defendants in the murder of Kercher was convicted for the murder of Kercher on Tuesday and sentenced to 30 years in prison. Guede, who admits to being in the apartment when the killing took place, had requested a fast-track trial, as defendants in those types of trials often receive lighter sentences. Authorities alleged that Knox murdered Kercher while Guede was attempting to sexually assault her from behind.
The trial will begin on Dec. 4.
