Isaac Zamora charged with six counts of aggravated murder

September 29, 6:01 PM
by Rob La Gatta & Mike Baldwin, Seattle Crime Examiner

Isaac Zamora, the mentally ill man who terrorized a neighborhood in Skagit County, killing six people in the process, has been charged with six counts of aggravated murder, amongst other charges.

Aggravated murder of the first-degree is the only crime someone can be executed for in Washington State.  Prosecutors are not sure if they will pursue the death penalty because of Zamora's fragile mental state.

I'm doubting Zamora will get death based on what we know about his family attempting to have him committed and the fact that he told police he killed because God told him to.  But the state has 30 days to decide what penalty they will pursue.

The state's going to have a tough decision when it comes to what Zamora should be charged with and sadly, it's own their own fault for not getting Zamora committed at an earier time.  Now six people are dead and are mental health system in the state just seems ridiculously terrible.

Zamora is being held on $5 million bail.
