I just watched footage on King-5 of the celebrations in the streets of Seattle overBarack Obama's victory in the 2008 presidential election.
For the first time on this site, I've been able to write about non-crime in Seattle, as the crowds in the streets of downtown Seattle and Capitol Hill have celebrated peacefully (thus far as of 11:35 p.m.). For all the crime that has ridden this city as of late (the tragic and inexcusable gang-murder of the "Tuba Man") and the history of Seattle as an angry mob-city (WTO and Mardi Gras) it is nice to see the people of Seattle portraying the essence of happiness and tranquility we often falsesly portray on the national landscape.
We will see if these people stay peaceful, but as of this post, it is a fond remembrance of the idealistic Seattle I was raised to believe in.
