The paper plate turkey is very easy and can be done even by very young toddlers.  Have fun with this project by putting out as many colored markers as possible to make the turkey look very colorful.  The older children seem to have their own method of coloring the paper plate from the inside out and they younger ones will just scribble away which is perfectly fine.  The all end up looking great!

What you'll need:

How to Make it:

  1. Cut a turkey out of brown construction paper and glue it onto another piece of colored paper.
  2. Color a paper plate with the markers. Make sure to really decorate it and completely cover the white as much as possible.
  3. Cut the paper plate into triangles (your child may need help with this) by stating on the outside and cutting all the way to the middle.
  4. Glue the triangles onto the turkey to look like feathers.
  5. Draw a beak, eyes, wattle, and feet to finish it off.

Enjoy the turkey through the month and put it up where your child can also see it everyday to boost their self esteem. They will want to show everyone that walks through your door the turkey they made. They will feel so proud!
