The Pita Jungle in Tempe at 1250 E. Apache Blvd is the first eatery to open in the chain that just celebrated its 15th anniversary. Having doubled in size since it first opened its doors the décor is environmentally friendly and welcoming. The menu offers a selection of Mediterranean fusion cuisine that combines Greek, Middle Eastern and Southwestern flavors.
If you are not familiar with this style of cuisine try the Mediterranean Platter. It offers a sampling that includes hummus, baba ganoosh, tsatziki, dolmades, falafel, feta cheese, green beans, black olives and pita bread. If you are gluten intolerant they will offer some blue corn tortilla chips that went surprisingly well with all of the above. At $9.89 it serves two. It's both tasty and a great deal. The staff (Lauren was our server) is knowledgeable and helpful in providing alternatives if you express your allergies and food intolerances.
Scott White, the Assistant Manager was very helpful in explaining how they make all the dips and sauces from scratch daily. This includes hummus (many flavors), tsatziki, and baba ganoosh just to name a few. The food tastes fresh and delicious and reflects their ethic to provide a quality and healthy product to their clientele. Check out their website at www.pitajungle.com.
