In Austin, we take pride in our local fare. We also take pride in healthy eating. When you don't have nutritional information available to you before you go to a restaurant you can never be sure how many calories you are actually eating. When you eat out, it is so easy to eat hidden calories and studies show that people tend to underestimate the amount of food they eat. That's why local restaurants that chalk up the money, time & energy to gather nutritional information on their food should be given a big pat on the back. Sometimes just knowing the nutritional value of what you're eating can drastically alter your choices. Nutritional information gives restaurant patrons an easy way to choose healthier options.
Though they are few and far between, here are some of my favorite places around town that share nutritional information on their Web sites.
