
Trunk-or-treat events are the new big Halloween rage. If you're unfamiliar with the concept, trunk-or-treating is like trick-or-treating, only kids go from car-to-car instead of door-to-door.
Trunk-or-treat events are often held by churches or community organizations. These events focus on costume and decorating fun that do not involve the scarier aspects of Halloween.
In the past few years, trunk-or-treating has become a better Halloween option for many parents. Families enjoy the safety of the event (most events require registration for those handing out treats) and appreciate the "non-scary" aspect for their little ones.

Friday, October 30th, 6 - 8: 30 p.m., Trinity Lutheran Church, 45160 VanDyke Ave., Utica. Festivities include trick-or-treating in the parking lot followed by a kid friendly dinner, sundae bar, and carnival games. Children are encouraged to wear non-scary costumes. Saturday, October 31st, 2 - 4 p.m., The Village of Rochester Hills Shopping Center, 104 N. Adams, Rochester. Collect treats from cars parked around Festival park. Saturday, October 31st, 6 - 8 p.m., Crossroads Community Church, 3631 King Rd., China. There will be 60 cars set up as candy stations, free food, fun, a prayer tent and nothing scary! For more information, call (810) 329-5221.
Saturday, October 31st, 1 - 3 p.m., Colonial Woods Missionary Church, 3240 Pine Grove Ave., Port Huron. Trick-or-treat, enjoy a stage show, get food from the concession stand or maybe even win a door prize! If you want to decorate your trunk, get there at noon to register. There will be four categories of prizes awarded with winners featured on the church website. Please, no scary costumes or decorations. For more information, call (810) 984-5571.
Family Tip: For trunk-or-treat locations near you, contact your city, county or township. Remember, most of these events don't allow "scary" or "evil" costumes or decorations.
