Take a look back on recent years when the state Department of Revenue has released some sort of finding on how fabulously wonderful Washington's tax burden is relative to that of other states:

Oct 22, 2009: Washington Ranks 26th Highest in State and Local Taxes; 32nd Highest in Property Taxes

June 24, 2008:  Washington Ranked 28th Nationally in Taxes Relative to Income in 2006

June 18, 2007: Washington’s Tax Ranking Drops to 37th in Nation

June 19, 2006: Washington's State and Local Taxes Ranked 29th-Lowest in Country

August 18 , 2004 : 2002 Washington tax burdens decline to lowest level since 1981

Oct 24, 2001: State and Local Tax Burdens Drop to Lowest Level Since Early 1980s

Funny how 2001 and 2009 have both been years with ballot initiatives to reduce property taxes, and in those years the releases came in late October, close to the election.

But I'm sure that's just a coincidence.
