Mother charged with intentionally dropping baby on her head

A 19 year old mother has been charged with intentionally dropping her 7 month old daughter on her head while walking down a busy road in Round Lake Park.
Debra A. Katz, of the 8500 block of South Buffalo Street in Chicago, was charged with domestic battery. She is being held on a $20,000 bond, and remains in the Lake County jail in Waukegan.
Police allege that Katz was visiting her sister when an argument began about the possibility of going to a swimming pool. Katz is then said to have taken her daughter and walked down a busy road, with her sister and a boyfriend following in a vehicle. Katz is then alleged to have held the infant upside down, before dropping her head first onto the ground, then walking into traffic. Police say that Vehicles swerved to avoid Katz, and the child suffered minor injuries for which she was treated at a local hospital, before being released to relatives. Katz was taken into custody shortly thereafter.
