Tucked away in Soho next to the world famous Foyles Bookshop, the Crobar is London’s premiere rock bar dedicated to bourbon, beer, and beguilement. The hard rock drinking hole provides residency to a vast clientele, from heavy metal hitters to plebeian rockers and everyone in between.
The bar itself exudes a certain seediness, as band posters and comic book pages adorn the gritty walls throughout. Low ceilings and narrow walkways lead way to the Crobar’s illustrious jukebox, which carries an assortment of anthem rock and classic metal, including everything from Iron Maiden and Metallica to Down and, yes, Crowbar.
The drink selection is enough incentive to get most people through the door; in fact, the pride of the Crobar lies in their extensive Bourbon menu. The three-page carte du jour offers a wide selection of astute whiskies, in addition to the ample beer selection and alcoholic slushies.
Although the pub radiates a rather uninviting first impression, the Crobar typically provides a friendly and casual atmosphere for their coarse consumers. And while the tattooed and pierced patrons may appear somewhat squalid, their rough exterior quickly fades after a few pungent drinks.
The Crobar boasts an impressive, recurring happy hour from 5 PM until 9 PM, and unlike most London bars, stays open each night until 3 AM. Due to its diminutive size and the demands of resident rockers, the bar is constantly busy, so be prepared for long drink queues and tight quarters.
