Thirty-three year old Adrian Gilliam has been arrested on a federal charge of being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm. He is accused of selling the gun used in the murder of former NFL standout Steve McNair. Sahel Kazemi, the girlfriend of the married McNair, reportedly used the gun to shoot him four times, before shooting herself once in the head. The pair was found on July 4 in McNair's rented condo located in downtown Nashville.

The McNair investigation led police to Household Pawn in Nashville where additional details were found that caused police to believe that Gilliam came into possession of the 9mm about one and a half years ago. He reportedly admitted to selling it to Kazemi on July 2, 2009. Gilliam has a criminal history that includes convictions for second degree murder and armed robbery resulting from a 1993 Florida case. Because of his felony record, Gilliam could not legally be in possession of a firearm. A multi-agency investigation culminated in Gilliams' arrest. It is unknown if any other arrests are imminent.

McNair was a famous NFL player. He was married to Mechelle McNair and he was the father of four children. During his college years at Alcorn State University, McNair was a standout from the nearby area. He was, without a doubt, one of the greatest players to ever grace a field with his presence. Despite his off the field activities, McNair was mentor to quite a few young athletes, including Vince Young. In addition to his mentoring of youngers players and his leadership skills on the gridiron, McNair was responsible for many philantropic activities and he was well known for donating quite a bit of money and his own time to various organizations, including the Steve McNair Foundation.

It is now being reported that McNair died without a will. It is unknown where this will leave his family financially. We can only hope that McNair's friends and family rise above this terrible tragedy and that this awful experience serves as a lesson.
