Updated to note, Catherine Reynolds is now a free agent.  Laid off earlier this summer, she's got a fabulous slew of wine and dinner events on the books.  If you want to jump in on the fun and keep up with Catherine's latest whereabouts, sign up for her Queso y Vino newsletter -- shoot her an e-mail at: quesoyvino@gmail.com

For years, she was my go-to girl.  Whenever I was in a jam…and needed a fabulous, yet affordable bottle of wine, Catherine had the goods.  With her recommendations, I could show up at a food-lover fete and hold my own with the best of them.

Yes, the secret’s out.

Catherine Reynolds was my secret weapon.

And since Catherine departed the Spanish Table earlier this spring, I’ve been floundering…

But yesterday, a ray of sunshine showed up in my inbox!  By popular demand…Catherine has resurrected her much-anticipated newsletter.  It’s under the new name Queso y Vino, and I received the first installment yesterday. (If you want to subscribe, shoot her an e-mail at: quesoyvino@gmail.com.)

Thanks to her newsletter, Catherine's whereabouts has been revealed.  You can find her Bella Cosa Foods over Wallingford.  This small gourmet shop offers an array of delicious bites and bottles and with Catherine at the helm, look for their wine and cheese selection to expand.  Bella Cosa also serves paninis and wine by the glass, so if you want to pop in for a bite and catch up with Catherine, this is the place to be.    (You can find her at Bella Cosa Tuesday through Saturday, from 11 am to 7 pm, five days a week.)

And to guild the lily, Catherine will be pairing up with Gaudi on June 17th for a fun and informative Spanish tasting with wine and nibbles.  It’s a screaming deal at just $25.

Here’s the scoop from the Queso y Vino newsletter:

Spanish wine tasting at Gaudi!

Tuesday, June 17th @ 7 pm

$25 per person (not including tax & gratuity)

Once again I'll be pairing up with Jo & Joan Luna of Gaudi, a sweet tapas spot east of Ravenna for an educational evening of wine & small plates. The Luna's ran a restaurant in Barcelona for years before transporting their culinary chops to the States, & the result is a traditionally-styled neighborhood bistro with non-fussed up dishes (like their heavenly airy croquetas which are to-die-for.) We will be pouring nine wines to go with nine Spanish classic dishes (menu below). This is not a formal sit-down dinner, but a chance to do some serious tasting amongst friends. If you'd like to join me, RSVP with your name, contact info, & number of people attending by emailing quesoyvino@gmail.com.. A limited number of seats means this sells out fast!!!

Jitanitos (Dates wrapped in Bacon)
