When wallets close up tight, restaurants get hammered. Veil won't be the last good restaurant we see bite the dust...as is evident with this bit of news...
From Catherine Reynold's Queso y Vino newsletter...
Due to hard times, my friend chef Naomi Andrade Smith of Villa Victoria has decided to sell her catering kitchen on Rainier which is a tragedy, especially after we all got to taste her sumptuous Mexican food at the last Queso y Vino dinner. When I talked to her this past week, she was busy cleaning the building & woefully told me how her freezer was still packed with homemade tamales. "SELL THEM!" I begged her, and thankfully she agreed.
Villa Victoria's Tamale Sale will go from 11:30 am to 4:00 pm, this Saturday, October 18th at Naomi's colorfully painted catering kitchen at 4116 Rainier Ave. S., just north of Columbia City's historic district (kitty-corner from the old da Pino location.) Here's what she's offering:
"We will have Chicken Tamales with Oaxacan Mole, Cheese & Jalapeño Tamales and Pork with Chileajo Tamales. The tamales will be cryo-vacked, frozen in packages of 1 dozen. $32.00 each dozen. Cash only. First come, first served!"

Naomi's tamales are heavenly. Stock up on these tasty bites while you can get 'em!
