Congress approval rating by U.S. voters down to 17%.
The tax and spend programs by the U.S. Congress have resulted in another drop in approval ratings by U.S. voters to 17 percent. Only 21 percent of voters say that during the past year, Congress has not passed anything that will significantly improve life in the country compared with 52 percent who say that it has not.
After the climate control bill---cap and trade--- was passed, Congress was rated as doing a poor job by:
- 21% of Democrats
- 56% of Independents
- 71% of Republicans
The Independent results could be the most important statistic as the 2010 congressional elections come closer.
According to the Rasmussen poll, 73% of voters think that members of Congress care more about furthering than own careers than in helping people. As far as corruption goes:
- 35% believe Congress is corrupt
- 37% believe Congress is not corrupt
- 29% are not sure
It is no wonder that 74% of Americans trust their own judgement over that of Congress.
