The new Charlotte.com is designed to link you to news of the Charlotte area from more than 300 local sources. That makes it a portal site much like Yahoo!, only this portal is for “all things Charlotte” and the surrounding region. It also is a local social media hub.

You will be able to find news from all traditional news media – including other newspapers, TV stations, radio stations and magazines – as well as Web-only media ranging from community blogs to neighborhood news sites.

To make this site yours, create an account and decide which categories you value most. Much like Facebook, the site allows you to form groups that can discuss and recommend stories. In fact, you can use your Facebook log-in to join Charlotte.com.
