Obama fishing ban: unverified and unlikely
Obama fishing ban: unverified and unlikely
AP

Rumors are spreading that President Obama is planning to ban recreational fishing in America. The fishing ban, however, according to what is known at this point, is made up; Obama will not make sports fishing off limits in the United States.

Though nothing has been determined yet, there is a proposed change that could effect some sorts of regulations in some places, but it would probably not concern recreational fishing and inland waters at all. Many of the rumors about Obama's fishing ban seem to celebrate the notion that the president would like to simply prevent Americans from participating in one of its top outdoor sports.

These rumors seem to result from reports that the Interagency Ocean Policy Task Force will make a zoning change regarding coastal waters, but as very little information about what that means, if anything, is presently understood, it seems absurd to assume that it means that Obama will ban fishing.
