Just a reminder - get your tickets here for Son Dam Bi and Lee Seung Gi's concert on November 14th at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.
First up is a special on Son Dam Bi:
Son Dam Bi was hyped as the female 'Rain/Bi' ('?' means 'rain' in Korean) and released her first single, 'Cry Eye' in 2007 under Pledis Entertainment (also of After School fame, and coincidentally, they are rumored to be hosting auditions in LA). After Cry Eye, she trained in the US before returning to Korea with 'Bad Boy' in the spring of 2008. 'Bad Boy' is a different sound from 'Cry Eye' featuring a heavier emphasis on electronic sounds. Industry favorite Brave Brothers helped produce 'Bad Boy' and it features Park Gahee. For her next release, she returned in the fall of 2008 with 'Crazy' featuring Eric of Shinwa fame. The performance included a chair dance that became a national sensation. Then on her first full length album released in the spring of 2009, 'Vol. 1 Type B - Back to the 80s', she released 'On a Saturday Night' as her title track. Recently she teamed up with Lee Minwoo (Shinwa) and Brave Brothers again for the title track 'Invisible' off his first mini album 'Attitude'.
In addition to her music career, she has also endorsed soju (a Korean liquor), cosmetics, tea and electronics companies. You've probably seen her on soju posters (also popular with Lee Hyori and BOA) and in Enpraini cosmetics commercials. Following Boys Over Flowers popularity, she teamed up with Kim Hyun Joong, Kim Bum, Kim Joon and appearances by Lee Minho for Samsung's online 'Anycall Haptic Mission' series. Recently, she was featured in a CF (commercial film) alongside AfterSchool for Samsung's latest AMOLED (Active Matrix Organic Light Emitting Diode) phone.
On top of her successful singing and endorsement deals, she also landed a leading role in the SBS drama, 'Dream' co-starring Kim Bum. You can catch episodes of 'Dream' with English subtitles by checking your local listings.
