Free dinners for veterans and active duty military on Veterans Day

Colorado Springs is home to many active military members and veterans. Several local area restaurants will be showing their appreciation to veterans in the coming week. If you or a family member are active duty military or a veteran, consider taking a night off from cooking and enjoy a meal at one of the restaurants below.

Outback Steakhouse will extend a special thank you to veterans on Veterans Day (Wednesday, November 11). All veterans and active duty military will receive a free bloomin’ onion and beverage (at participating locations) with proof of military service. Valid veteran and active duty identification include the following:

• U.S. Uniform Services Identification Card
• U.S. Uniform Services Retired Identification Card
• Current Leave and Earnings Statement (LES)
• Veterans Organization Card (i.e. VFW, American Legion)
• Photograph in Uniform
• Wearing Uniform

There are three Outback Steakhouses in Colorado Springs: 2825 Geyser Drive, 80906, 7065 Commerce Center Drive, 80919, and 2895 New Center Point, 80922.

Veterans and active duty military eat free at Applebee’s Restaurants on Veterans Day with proof of military service. Valid proof of service include the same items mentioned above, as well as a DD Form 214 or a Citation or Commendation.

There are three Applebee's Restaurants in Colorado Springs: 7625 Goddard Street, 80920, and 495 Garden of the Gods Rd., 80907, and 3708 East Galley Colorado Springs, CO 80909.

If you don’t mind driving to Denver, McCormick & Schmick’s Seafood Restaurant is hosting its 11th Annual Veterans Appreciation Event on Sunday, November 8th. Veterans can choose a complimentary lunch or dinner entrée. This offer is for veterans as defined by the Veterans Administration, Title 38 US Code 101, which is “a person who served in the active military, naval, or air service, and who was discharged or released under conditions other than dishonorable.” Proper ID including a VA card, VFW card, American Legion card, discharge papers, DD214 or other Veterans ID must be presented to the server. Restaurants will not be able to seat parties larger than six.

The two McCormick & Schmick's locations in Denver are at 1659 Wazee St., 80202 8100 E. Union Ave., 80237. Space is limited so reservations are required.

Golden Corral restaurants nationwide will be hosting their 9th annual Military Appreciation Monday dinner on Monday, November 16th from 5:00-9:00 p.m. The free “thank you tribute” dinner is available to any person who has served in the United States Military (veteran, retired, currently serving, or in the National Guard or Reserves). Family and friends must pay the regular dinner menu pricing (unless they meet the service requirements).

There are two Golden Corral restaurants in Colorado Springs: 410 E. Woodmen Road, 80920 and 1970 Waynoka Rd., 80915.
