You're probably familiar with Scholastic books. Public schools send home order forms at least once a month for students to order them and they are a well-known brand name. What many people may not know is that Scholastic has a warehouse here in Raleigh that hosts a major sale that is open to the public where you can get books for up to 80% off of the retail price!
The Scholastic Holiday Warehouse Sale will be held this year from Wednesday, December 9, through Saturday, December 19. You can see the complete schedule and hours here and the location is as follows: Scholastic Book Fairs, 3070 Business Park Drive Suite 100, Raleigh, NC 27610, (919) 255-1919.
So why go to such a sale? Well, the 80% off deal is a great deal particularly in these tough economic times. Besides that, Scholastic offers a "Build a Box" deal to shoppers where you can fill up an entire box with preselected clearance books and items for only $24.95!
What sets this particular sale apart from others that you hear about is that all of these books are new. Most books sales that are put out to the public - such as library sales - all deal with used books. Scholastic does not deal with used books, only new.
Wake County will also be hosting a book sale starting at the end of this week through it's public libraries. You can go to their website for a map to their new location near Garner at 1514 Garner Station Road in the South Station Shopping Center. The dates are Saturday, November 14, through Saturday, November 21st. This sale is boasting some 300,000 books for sale at bargain prices but remember, these are used books. Customers are encouraged to bring their own hand trucks or push carts for an easier shopping experience.
These are both great sales that are offering ways to stock up on all kinds of books for your homeschool library, Christmas gifts or just for your own personal enjoyment. No matter what the reason, you should definitely go and check these sales out.
