
Portland showed off it can beat just about anyone in the NBA – again, but this time they did it on the road.
The Trail Blazers recovered from a 19-point, first-half deficit and cruised past San Antonio 95-83 Wednesday night in San Antonio, Texas., where they hadn’t won since 2002.
Brandon Roy scored 26 points, LaMarcus Aldridge hit 10 of 13 shots from the field and Joel Pryzbilla gravved 17 rebounds as Portland improved to 50-28 on the season, moving into a three-way tie for third in the Western Conference behind Los Angeles (62-16) and Denver (53-26).
Denver, which beat Oklahoma City Wednesday, plays host to Los Angeles Thursday.
Portland, which finished Wednesday’s game with a 43-26 rebounding edge, has four games left in the regular season.
The Blazers is still just 19-21 on the road and just 28-20 against Western Conference teams – better than just Dallas among teams currently headed for the playoffs.
But, Portland has wins over defending champion Boston as well as a 111-94 thumping of the Lakers in the Rose Garden March 9.
Portland plays host to the Lakers on Friday – a day after Los Angeles plays at Denver, a trend the Blazers have gotten used to lately. Portland upended Phoenix, March 26, a day after the Suns won a big game in Utah, and trounced Utah, March 31, a day after the Jazz won at home against New York.
Portland closes out the regular season at the Los Angeles Clippers Saturday, then with home games against Oklahoma City Monday and Denver Wednesday.
