Maclaren recall
Maclaren recall
Mark Shelton

Maclaren, the British yuppy stroller maker has been forced to recall over a million strollers. It appears twelve children have lost digits to the strollers. Why doesn't the US Consumer Product Safety Commission just recall all chidren and stupid people? These things happen. A stroller has moving parts.

Apparently, Maclaren is offering an aftermarket fix for free. Their website www.maclarenbaby.com has been inundated. I spoke with someone at Maclaren who did so under the condition of anonymity because he wasn't authorized to speak on Maclaren's behalf. He told me Maclaren is doing all they can to appease customers. He did, though, report that he was told by his supervisors to give parents of children who have twelve or more fingers lower priority.

If you own a Maclaren you might also want to know that for years toilet seats have been falling on young boys who are potty training. I haven't read of any amputations, but I have been told it hurts.
