President Obama will hold Veterans Day services at Fort Hood, Texas.
On the eve of Veterans Day, grief overshadows the lives of soldiers, citizens and families of Fort Hood, Texas. A fellow soldier killed thirteen people in an on base massacre. Community members and soldiers affected struggle to deal with the impact of such loss of life.
President Obama will attend Veterans Day services for the victims, families and community on November 10, 2009 at Fort Hood. The affair will be closed to the public due to security and privacy issues for families of the wounded and dead. Only victims and their families are invited to attend.

- Pvt. Francheska Velez, 21, Chicago, Illinois (and her unborn child)
- Pfc. Michael Pearson, 22, Bolingbrook, Illinois
- Spc. Jason Dean Hunt, 22, Tipton, Oklahoma
- Spc. Kham Xiong, 23, St. Paul, Minnesota
- Spc. Frederick Greene, 29, Mountain City, Tennessee
- Sgt. Amy Krueger, 29, Kiel, Wisconsin
- Army Staff Sgt. Justin DeCrow, 32, Plymouth, Indiana
- Capt. Russell Seager, 51, Racine, Wisconsin
- Maj. Libardo Eduardo Caraveo, 52, Woodbridge, Virginia
- Lt. Col. Juanita L. Warman, 55, Havre De Grace, Maryland
- Capt. John Gaffaney, 56, San Diego, California
- Chief Warrant Officer Michael Grant Cahill (Ret.), 62, Cameron, Texas, civilian
