The Nets were on a roll, winners of eight of their last 11 games to get to 10-8 on the season. Devin Harris was exploding onto the NBA scene as a legitimate player, Vince Carter was doing his part in the scoring department, Yi Jianlian was excellent at times and Brook Lopez was beginning to establish himself as a top rookie. After a 29 point home win against Minnesota, the Nets travelled to Philadelphia to battle the 76ers.
Game 19- Philadelphia shot just 36 percent from the field as the Nets got 27 points and eight assists in a 95-84 road win against the Sixers to improve to 11-8 on the campaign. Vince Carter and Brook Lopez each pulled down 11 rebounds and Yi Jianlian had 12 and seven. Bobby Simmons, who came along with Yi in the offseason trade that sent Richard Jefferson to Milwaukee, scored 11 in the win.
Game 20- The Nets' first meeting with the Knicks did not go as planned as Al Harrington poured in 39 points as New York defeated New Jersey 121-109 at the Izod Center to drop the Nets to 11-9. Devin Harris scored 32 in the loss, and Yi Jianlian had 13.
Game 21- New Jersey once again disappointed against an east opponent, falling hard at Toronto 101-79 to fall to just a game above .500 at 11-10. The Nets shot just 31 percent from the field as Harris and Yi paced the team with 14 points each. Chris Bosh had a game high 18.
Game 22- A trip to the Windy City got the Nets their third straight defeat and fourth in their last six games, 113-104 against the Bulls. Vince Carter had a game high 39 points, but New Jersey got outscored 38-24 in the fourth quarter. Harris had 22 and seven and Bobby Simmons had 12 and 10 as the Nets fell to .500 on the campaign.
Game 23- Playing Toronto for the second time in four days, the Nets responded with a 94-87 win north of the border, coming back from a seven point defecit to start the fourth quarter and halt their three game skid. The rookie from California, Ryan Anderson, bursted onto the scene with a game high 21 points and nine rebounds, as Harris and Carter each had 20 for the 12-11 Nets.
Game 24- New Jersey surprisingly won at Utah in November, and the Jazz were without Carlos Boozer. It looked like the Nets would cruise after outscoring Utah 27-7 in the first quarter. But Utah outscored the Nets 24-12, 32-30 and 40-23 in the following quarters to shock the Nets at the Izod Center 103-92 to get the Nets to 12-12. Carter had 32 in the loss, Harris had 21 and Lopez had 15.
Game 25- After a day off to shake off a bad loss, the Nets got a great win over Jason Kidd and the Mavericks, 121-97 at the Izod Center to go to 13-12. New Jersey got off to a 13 point halftime lead and never looked back behind 41 points and 13 assists from Harris, dominating Kidd's 17 and seven. Carter had 34, Yi had 16 and Jarvis Hayes had 14 off the bench.
Game 26- Dwayne Wade can take over a game at will, and he showed that at the Izod Center. Wade scored 12 of the Heat's final 14 points, 43 in all, as Miami defeated New Jersey 106-103 to drop the Nets to 13-13. Lopez had a monstrous 22 and 13, and Carter and Harris eached chipped in with 21 in defeat.
Game 27- The Nets lost their third out of four games, getting down 61-40 at halftime and fell at home to Houston 114-91. Yao Ming had 24 and 16 as the Rockets shot a blazing 58 percent from the field. Unheralded backup guard Keyon Dooling led the Nets with 17 as Harris, Carter and Yi each had just 10 points in an awful loss that sunk New Jersey to 13-14 on the season.
