Fantasy sport examiners Kyle Vamvakas (Denver) and Deni Martin (Detroit) go 1-on-1 to figure out which PG has more fantasy value: the Nuggets Chauncey Billups or the Pistons Rodney Stuckey.

The players were matched head-to-head on each of the eight typical categories used in fantasy basketball, with Billups prevailing 5-3. The stats are broken down below, but first Kyle Vamvakas offers his analysis. (Deni Martin's Analysis can be found at his site.)

*What results did you expect coming into this 1-on-1?
I expected Billups to blow Stuckey away statistically, and while he won 5-3, many of the categories were neck-to-neck. Billups was drafted 70-80 slots ahead of Stuckey in most drafts, but the production hasn’t had that great of a discrepancy.

*What is your assessment of Billups’ fantasy value?
Obviously, Billups is one of the better PG options in fantasy basketball. He produces in nearly every category and he’s reliable. His assists are a bit low for a PG and his FG% has been low all season, but he’s a top-10 guard based on his ability to do a little bit of everything and do it on a consistent basis.

*What is your assessment of Stuckey’s fantasy value?
His low assist average is concerning, as are his lack of 3-pointers as a guard. But he gives you a lot of rebounds out of the PG position, solid point production and great FT%. He definitely has value as a second or third PG option.

*Do you see their current statistical-trends changing at all over the course of the season?
We have to assume that Billups shooting percentage will improve as the season goes on. Stuckey should also be able to raise his assist numbers, helping his value tremendously. Most of the other stats fall in line with what each player has done over the course of their careers.

*Which player would you prefer to have on your own fantasy team?
I like both players. You have to value Billups’ consistency and production, but I think either player can be a solid piece for fantasy teams. Obviously, if you’re in a keeper-league situation, Stuckey has much greater long-term value.
